Suzuki developed the XR23B from its RG500 square-four to compete in late-1970s 1000cc racing, enlarging it to 652cc and producing around 140 bhp.

Distinctive “swan-neck” expansion chambers defined its design. Built in limited numbers, it saw UK and European competition use with riders including Barry Sheene, combining GP-derived engineering with endurance-focused performance.
